Low-Voltage Landscape Lighting

Your home,
after dark.

Lookout Lighting Co. designs, installs, and maintains low-voltage LED landscape lighting — the warm, layered kind that makes a home feel finished, makes walkways safe, and makes evenings outside last longer. Most of our work is uplighting: the front of the home, specimen trees, and the paths between them.

Why It Matters

Good lighting does four jobs at once

Curb appeal

Architecture, stonework, and trees that disappear at sunset become the best-looking part of the property.

Safety

Steps, edges, and walkways stay clearly visible for family and guests — without harsh floodlights or glare.

Security

A well-lit home has fewer dark corners and looks occupied and cared for, all night, every night.

More hours outside

Patios, decks, and gardens stay usable after dinner instead of going dark when the sun does.

Lights Off · Lights On

Drag the slider. That’s the whole pitch.

The house doesn’t change. The landscaping doesn’t change. Only the lighting does — and suddenly the property has depth, warmth, and a clear, safe path to the door.

OFF ON

The same home from the same angle — every landscape light off on one side, the full system on the other.

Services

Designed for your property, not pulled off a shelf

Every project starts with how you actually use your home after dark — where you walk, where you sit, and what’s worth showing off. Most of our work is uplighting the front of the home, the trees, and the paths — it’s where professional lighting makes the biggest difference. These photos show the lighting techniques we design with.

Front of Home

Architectural & façade lighting

Grazing and washing light across stone, brick, siding, columns, and rooflines — so the home itself becomes the feature, with a warm, welcoming entry.

Paths & Steps

Path, walkway & step lighting

Low, shielded path lights that pool light on the ground where you walk — no glare in your eyes, no runway look, just clear footing from driveway to door.

Trees & Gardens

Tree & garden uplighting

Uplights placed at the base of specimen trees and through planting beds to reveal canopy, texture, and color that vanish after sunset.

Deck and step lights, downlighting, and uplighting for the trees and beds around your patio — for the spaces where evenings actually happen, from dinner outside to the fire pit.

System design & upgrades

New system design from scratch, or an upgrade of an older halogen or failing system to modern LED — often reusing good wiring and transformer locations where it makes sense.

Maintenance & service

Seasonal check-ups, cleaning and re-aiming fixtures as plants grow, replacing failed components, adjusting timers and controls, and expanding your system as your landscaping changes.

Our Fixtures

Professional-grade fixtures, built to last

We install professional-grade, low-voltage fixtures made for permanent outdoor installation — solid brass hardware built to run every night, not disposable big-box solar stakes.

  • Solid brass & copper constructionHeavy, corrosion-resistant fixtures that age to a natural patina instead of peeling, cracking, or rusting out.
  • Replaceable LED bulbsMost of our fixtures take standard LED bulbs — when one eventually fails, you swap the bulb in minutes instead of replacing the whole fixture, which keeps long-term costs down. We use integrated-LED fixtures selectively, where they make sense.
  • Pro transformers & controlsProperly sized low-voltage transformers with timers and smart control options, so the system runs itself — on at dusk, off when you say.
  • A complete fixture familyPath lights, uplights, downlights, deck and step lights, and specialty fixtures that match — so a whole property looks like one design, not a mix of styles.

How It Works

From first walk-through to first night

1

Consultation

We walk your property together — ideally near dusk — and talk through goals, problem spots, and budget.

2

Design & proposal

Your photos, our sketch, and a satellite view of your property become an exact fixture plan — every light specified before we quote. You get a clear, itemized price. No pressure, no vague allowances.

3

Installation

Fixtures, wiring, and transformer installed cleanly — wire buried, beds tidied, and your landscaping respected.

4

Night aiming

After dark, every fixture is aimed and adjusted with you there, so the final look is exactly what you approved.

5

Ongoing care

Timers set, controls explained, and maintenance available as plants grow and seasons change.

How We Design

A real plan, drawn on your actual property

Every design starts with photos of your property and a hand-drawn sketch of where the light should go. From there, a satellite view of your address confirms the layout — roofline, tree canopy, driveway, and walkways — so the plan specifies the exact fixtures and supplies your property needs before anything is ordered or installed. No guessing, no overbuying, no running short mid-job: what arrives on install day is what your design called for.

Questions

Before you ask

Yes. The system runs on 12 volts stepped down by a transformer — the same class of power as a doorbell. Fixtures and buried cable are designed for exactly this use, which is a big reason low-voltage is the standard for residential landscape lighting.
Very little. Modern LED fixtures use only a few watts each, so a typical whole-home system often draws less power than a single old floodlight bulb — and timers or smart controls mean it’s only on when you want it.
Solar stakes are dim, uneven, and usually last a season or two before the batteries and plastic give up. A wired professional system uses solid brass fixtures with consistent, warm output, controlled from one transformer — it’s a permanent improvement to the home, not a disposable accessory.
Usually, yes. We can evaluate what you have, replace failed fixtures, convert halogen to LED, re-aim and clean what’s there, and expand into areas the original installer never lit. Tell us what’s going on in the quote form below.
No heavy trenching is involved. Low-voltage cable is buried in a shallow slit, fixtures stake or mount in place, and beds are tidied as we go. Most homeowners are surprised how little trace an install leaves — aside from the lights themselves.
Your transformer handles it: a timer, a photocell that turns lights on at dusk, or smart controls you can adjust from your phone, depending on what we spec together. Set it once and the system runs itself.
